Csiribiri
music initiation
weekly music programmes
for girls and boys of 0-12 years of age

Since 2007 via our early music development programme, Csiribiri, we introduce the Hungarian musical heritage to babies and children using songs, games, dancing, folk tales accompanied by musical instruments. We use the modernised Kodály methode which advocates that music education should be started as early as possible, the content of the classes has to be adapted to the capabilities of the participants and that only music of excellent quality should be used in the education of children.

We have 4 different courses, each taylored to a specific age group.

The aim of the BabaÉnek group is to raise the interest of babies in music and to make them familiar with rhymes and children's songs in a playful way. As Zoltán Kodály said: "Music education begins nine months before the birth of the mother". We welcome babies up to 1.5 years of age together with their parents or grandparents in the group. Collective singing and carefree games are in the focus of the classes which create a strong emotional bond between (grand) parents and babies while also help to develop their hearing, speech comprehension, sense of rhythm, movement/motor skills. Physical proximity and touch are essential in our games (like galloping, sliding, caressing, tickling, massaging, rocking, walking etc.). The classes are organised on Thursdays during the school year from 4.30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The aim of the TücsökMuzsika groups is to familiarise children with rhymes, children’s songs, live classical and traditional folk music in a creative way. As Zoltán Kodály said: "Let music belong to everyone!”. We welcome children in two groups, the ones of 1.5 to 3.5 years of age together with their parents or grandparents, the ones of 3.5 to 6 years of age by themselves. During the classes singing accompanied by musical instruments, rythmic exercises, dances and games get centre stage. We also start discovering the world of musical notes. In addition to improving musical (hearing, rythm, singing) skills our classes also play an important role in children’s emotional, social and personal development. The classes of the two groups are organised in paralell on Thursdays during the school year from 5.20 p.m. to 6.05 p.m.

The aim of the NyitniKék group is that children develop their musical skills. We focus on their hearing, sense of rthym and singing voice. As Zoltán Kodály said: "With music music, one’s whole future life is brightened. This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life.” We welcome children of 6 to 8 years of age to the classes with lots of singing, playing and moving. Music theory (solfege) in a playful way is also part of the course which intends to provide a sound musical base to children which is essential both for them joining a choir or for learning to play an instrument. Our monthly classes always introducing a new musical instrument also helps them choose the instrument they would like to learn. The classes are organised on Thursdays during the school year from 6.10 p.m. to 6.55 p.m.

The aim of the Pacsirta choir is to help children and teens to: discover their singing voice, the songs native to Hungary and the joy of singing together. We demonstrate that those who sing make their own and also life of others richers and nicer. As Zoltán Kodály said: "Singing frees the soul, it encourages, heals inhibitions and shyness. It makes you concentrate, improves your physical and mental disposition. It moves a whole person and also develops the sense of community." We intend work together with other children's choirs to allow our participants to meet other children, make good friends and also to give small concerts. We shall cover songs from here and there, from yesterday and today. We welcome children from the age of 8 years old. The classes are organised on Thursdays during the school year from 6.10 p.m. to 7.10 p.m.

The aim of the HangszerOrszág groups is to familiarise children with different musical instruments. At each class a guest musician presents the "story" of his/her instrument. Participants will discover how the instrument is played, what type of melodies it can best perform. We welcome children upto 12 years of age who can also get their "hands on" the instruments. The classes are organised on Thursdays once a month during the school year from 5.20 p.m. to 6.05 p.m. for the 1.5 - 6 age group and from 6.10 p.m. to 6.55 p.m. for 6 years olds and above.

Participants of the BabaÉnek, TücsökMuzsika, Nyitnikék and Pacsirta groups are automatically enrolled in the HangszerOrszág classes, but it is possible to register exclusively for the HangszerOrszág group.
